About Us

Introduction - Chaudhary Hira Lal Shiksha Samiti, established in 1987, under the Societies Registration Act,1860 operates two institutes of repute under the name “Aurobindo”. Through its concerted efforts the society has created institutions at par with international standards that impart quality education right from the kindergarten stage to secondary level, charging very nominal fee. Keeping in view the growing educational needs of children with the exposure to contemporary circumstances to develop them into responsible citizens as a national resource, Late Sh. Ram Chander Thakran established (founded) the society namely “Chaudhary Hira Lal Shiksha Samiti (CHLSS) to serve the community/society as a whole. In 1987, under the aegis of CHLSS, he laid the foundation stone of Aurobindo Public School in Budh Vihar Phase - 1 followed by Aurobindo Primary School at Bajitpur and preserved the name of his father Late Sh. Chaudhary Hira Lal and mother Smt. Dakha Devi.

Our founder

Late Sh. Ram Chander Thakran, a visionary, with an aim to promote education, became the spearhead in forming an educational society. The society was formed by him after his father’s name i.e. Chaudhary Hira Lal. Multi-faceted personality that he was, he pursed the cause of education with vigour and vision. Sir was the guiding force behind the success of educational ventures of Chaudhary Hira Lal Shiksha Samiti i.e. Aurobindo Public School, since its inception in 1987. He established two institutes of repute in the name of Indian philosopher, yogi, maharishi, poet and Indian Nationalist, Sri Aurobindo, which have now become a brand in the field of education. His perseverance has inspired the Aurobindo family to grow from a small kindergarten to a prestigious institute, offering infrastructure of international standard and education at an affordable price. From sir we have learnt the lesson of swadharma, integrity and uprightness. Sh. Ram Chander Thakran was born on 20th day of August, 1933 in a small village namely Bajitpur on the outskirts of the Delhi in the British India. He went to a local village school and later accorded various degrees from multiple eminent universities of independent India. He was a sports enthusiast too. He played for the Lahore Kabaddi Veterans (Modern day Pakistan) at a young age of 13 years. He has been a referee of Kabaddi, Volley Ball and Wrestling matches at the Rajputana Olympic Association, Ajmer, Rajasthan. He has also been a certified counsellor at Indian Red Cross Society, Delhi State Branch and was also certified in Advanced Scouters’ by The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Punjab at Taradevi. He further received instructional training from the St. John Ambulance Association (India). He entered the world of teaching formally on 01.03.1955 with the Directorate of Education, Delhi and thereon provided his valuable services as a learned teacher at various Govt. Schools before finally voluntarily retiring from service in order to have his dream fulfilled by making Aurobindo Public School a living reality. He completed his Bachelor of Arts (English Hons.) in September 1956 from Punjab University, and was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Teaching from Punjab University, MA (Hindi) from University of Delhi in 1962, Master of Education from Himachal Pradesh University in 1973, MA English from Himachal Pradesh University and MA Sanskrit from Punjab University.

He had command over Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit and Punjabi, both in writing and speaking. Along with being an avid reader, he has also authored several books on Poetry, Fiction and Drama. “Gulabo” a masterpiece dedicated to his mother, Late Smt. Dakha Devi, featured in the famous Sewagram Editorial/Newspaper from 12.12.1971 to 18.12.1971. He spent his last days reading the Sanskrit version of Bhagvad Gita. Sh. Ram Chander Thakran left for his heavenly abode on 24.12.2019.

His journey continues to inspire us to water the seeds of the noble cause which he had sown and nurtured with much love and dedication.
